SATURDAY 9 MARCH,
MOUNT HOBWEE LOOP,
Leader: Khaleel 0413314443
Brigid’s, 78 Musgrave Rd, Red Hill
(carpool) $5 (private)
Emerg Off: Greg 0418122995
This park is at Binna Burra and is part of the Gondwana
Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. It is also worth mentioning a
noticeable feature of the mountain which is a number of Arctic Beach trees
close to the top.
Although the track has more than a 750 metre ascent, I believe it is suitable for most of our club
members as the ascents/descents are fairly gradual and distributed along the
a good and very interesting summer time walking track at the Lamington National
Park. From St Brigid's we meet at our standard meeting point at Canungra War
Memorial, DJ Smith Memorial Park.
Mt Hobwee circuit starts on the border track and follows
Aracauria track and branches off to right after 6.3 km to the Mt Hobwee track.
This is a good spot for a late morning tea. Then will continue another
3.6 km to the junction leading to the top. Watch out for the Darrayabroo
Lookout on the way to the top where we will have a good break for lunch. Then heading back to our main track, the
circuit rejoins the Border Track after 2 km and returns to the Binna
Burra trailhead, where we will enjoy our well deserved drink/munch.
