It takes forty minutes to drive from Red Hill to the start of the walk. We will do an anticlockwise circuit starting at Lake Manchester Road on a well identified track. The first two kilometres have some undulations of 50 metres at the most. The following kilometre is a fairly steep ascend of about 250 metres to the beautiful lookout at Little Mermaid.  There we will have good stop to enjoy the spot then we will have our morning tea. The scenes of lake Manchester, Ipswich and the Scenic Rim are just stunning. This will be followed by 1.5 kilometre easy ascent towards Mermaid Mountain on a fire trail. Then we will turn right and descend 1.6 kilomtres towards Lake Manchester Road, where we will turn right to get to our cars at the starting point.
